We call them Video Board Books

Research has shown that 65 percent of us are visual learners – seeing leads to understanding, making our eyes the most effective way to gather information.

Thus, at WeeSchool, we believe media-enriched interactions offer powerful learning opportunities for very young children. In particular, video can illustrate how things move, behave and sound in the real world; it can take a child on a virtual field trip to a coral reef or African savannah, or expose wee ones to the joys of music and dance.

We invented Video Board Books to do just that – bring sights and sounds to life in ways traditional books can’t, while setting the stage for parents to share knowledge and context about what is being seen and heard.

Early exposure to screens

Good? Bad? The topic has been controversial, but it’s not that complicated. You decide what’s best for your baby, but the freshest thinking boils down to this: Baby’s passive viewing of entertainment programming should be avoided, but co-viewing of educational content alongside a parent or caregiver can have benefits. Simply stated, content matters, and how it’s shared with baby really matters. Our Video Board Books were created with this in mind and comply with the current recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

“For children younger than 18 months, avoid use of screen media other than video-chatting. Parents of children 18 to 24 months of age who want to introduce digital media should choose high-quality programming, and watch it with their children to help them understand what they’re seeing.”
